Glaucoma Surgery

Glaucoma surgery selection is individualized and selecting the right procedure will depend on your present pressure control, your pressure target, your disease stage, your age, and your other medical conditions (i.e. if you are on anticoagulation for hear disease).  Sometimes Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) is what you need to enhance your pressure control.  Other times, Traditional Glaucoma Surgery (TGS) may be needed to maximally lower the pressure in advanced disease to prevent blindness.  Some animated videos here (from device manufacturers) show how glaucoma surgery is performed for educational purposes; this may help facitilate a discussion on what procedure is the most appropriate for your care.
